(Preschool - Grade 12) is celebrating it's 41st year of bringing Waldorf education to Northern California. Our school has two beautiful campuses:
Preschool through grade 5 in Los Altos and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. Our school is a full member of and accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WSP is seeking inspired educators to support our Humanities
, Practical Arts
, and Gardening programs.
These areas may be offered as separate part-time positions or combined into one full-time role, depending on the candidate’s strengths and interests.
Ideal applicants bring a love of teaching, a collaborative spirit, and a deep appreciation for hands-on, experiential, and developmentally appropriate learning.
ResponsibilitiesHumanities Instruction
- Engages students in age-appropriate intellectual, artistic, practical, and social activities in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy.
- Foster rich discussions and creative expression.
- Develop engaging lesson plans with artistic and experiential components.
Practical Arts / Earth Arts
- Lead classes in woodworking, stone carving, jewelry making, coppersmithing and blacksmithing,tool use, or other craft disciplines.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring hands-on learning environment.
Gardening Program
- Teach and maintain gardening classes that connect students with nature, ecology, and seasonal rhythms.
- Manage the school garden, guiding students in planting, cultivating, harvesting, and land care.
- Integrate gardening with broader curriculum themes (science, history, sustainability).
- Bachelor’s degree required; background in humanities, practical arts, or environmental education preferred.
- Waldorf teacher training (completed or in progress) strongly preferred.
- Experience working with children in grades 6-12.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to professionalism.
- Positive communication skills with parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Compensation & Benefits
For a full time combined position: $72,000 - $75,000 annual salary ; for separate part-time roles $29 - $58 an hour. Full benefits for full-time roles; prorated benefits for part-time roles as applicable.
