Manager, Aircraft Spatial & Mechanical Integration

We are looking for a Manager of Spatial & Mechanical Integration to join our team. The goal of this role is to ensure all aspects of the aircraft's mechanical and physical integration are safe and certifiable. You will be part of the Wisk Gen 6 aircraft team that is bringing a commercial autonomous air taxi to the market.
This is an onsite work opportunity. You will work at our Mountain View HQ office.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight, give clear direction for the team, manage priorities, and coordinate with the rest of the aircraft team.
- Hire, reward, mentor, retain, and support development of great people.
- Provide programmatic support including planning, budget development, and process development.
- Engage proactively with program leaders to ensure alignment and clear communication of solutions and issues.
- Support Gen 6 aircraft development by ensuring the aircraft meets product, certification, and safety requirements.
- Lead and support Spatial Integration across the aircraft to ensure all hardware and systems are spatially integrated, meeting all zonal, clearance and accessibility requirements.
- Ensure System Safety aspects (Zonal, Environmental, etc.) are considered throughout the design and addressed by architecture and system design.
Requirements
- 12 years of industry experience in aircraft and/or rotorcraft development, with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent.
- Successfully worked and collaborated on solving spatial/volume integration issues with cross‑functional teams in fast‑moving aircraft development programs.
- Experience with many aircraft types and in various phases of an aircraft development program.
- Led and closed many configuration trade studies, managing root cause and correction action leading to certifiable aircraft solutions.
- Managed small teams of mechanical and systems engineers in an aircraft integration team.
- Held MRB or equivalent sign‑off approval for defects and deviations.
- Very experienced with standard aerospace CAD systems, preferably NX.
- Solution‑oriented with strong analytical mindset.
- Strong communication skills, able to tailor communication to audience.
- Adaptable, able to propose changes for early results.
- Positive team player, collaborative, embraces challenges, delivers results within reasonable expectations.
- Excited to learn about the team and leverage hard‑learned lessons of eVTOL development at Wisk.
Desired
- Strong knowledge of safety‑critical systems development process methodologies (ARP
4754A, ARP
4761, DO‑160, DO‑178C, DO‑254, DO‑297). - Understanding of certification regulations (Part 23, 25, 27, 29, 33, 35).
- Familiarity with Jira, Git, or other tool.
- Experience in a clean‑sheet novel aircraft from concept to certification.
- Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink, Python, and C/C++.
