We are looking for a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. The goal is to design safe and reliable high‑power electronics for the aircraft.
This is a hybrid work opportunity: onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week plus remote.
What You Will Do- Act as a seasoned engineer focused on the design and development of low/high voltage electronics for a high‑power inverter.
- Design high‑reliability power architectures and control electronics in accordance with relevant military standards, DO‑254, FMEA, and tight tolerance/temperature constraints.
- Support motor controller testing, dyno testing, propeller testing, and aircraft testing as a power electronics expert.
- Take ownership of lifecycle development: concept, board design, team coordination, PLM, verification testing, documentation, requirements verification, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate regularly with mechanical, thermal, flight bus, systems, and safety teams to meet IPT goals.
- Help conceptualize designs that optimize weight and power density of the propulsion unit.
- PhD with 4 years experience, MSEE degree with at least 7 years, or BSEE/BSME with at least 9 years of experience.
- Experience developing multi‑kilowatt power electronics and motor controllers.
- Experience in weight‑optimizing power electronics.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting EMI/EMC issues.
- Experience troubleshooting integrated design testing.
- Strong grasp of analog and digital hardware development and validation techniques.
- Ability to model, simulate and optimize performance in MATLAB and PLECS.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with DO‑160/DO‑254 certification and aerospace development standards.
- Experience with weight minimization.
- Experience with >10 kW three‑phase motor drive hardware design.
- Motor control theory (FOC, DTC, etc.).
- Familiar with electromagnetic motor design.
- Familiarity with Altium Designer.
- Experience developing thermal management approaches for power electronics.
- Familiar with latest SiC and GaN devices.
- Experience writing and executing test procedures for validation and qualification.
- Familiar with MIL‑STD‑461.
- Highly motivated, self‑starting individual with broad skills and comfort with complex technical challenges.

We offer a competitive base salary of $173,000–$200,000 per year, annual bonus, long‑term incentive, 401(k), health benefits, and much more.
