We do this by delivering the most advanced data and AI infrastructure on the planet, giving organizations the deep insights they need to transform their industries.
The Lakeflow Engineering team is at the forefront of this mission. We power ETL at massive scale on the Databricks Lakehouse, enabling data engineers everywhere to build high-performance, reliable, and scalable pipelines. We are the pioneers of declarative ETL, with a product line that includes:
Delta Live Tables, Streaming Tables, and Materialized Views—helping users author and run complex data workflows with ease.
We're now looking for a visionary Engineering Leader to lead the Lakeflow Pipelines Engine team into its next chapter. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of ETL by driving innovation at the intersection of AI, distributed systems, and developer experience. You’ll define the technical strategy, elevate engineering excellence, and cultivate a culture of bold thinking and customer obsession.
WhatYou'll Do:
- Inspire and lead a world-class team building the next generation of ETL systems—pushing the boundaries of performance, scalability, and usability.
- Champion engineering excellence across system architecture, API design, and operational rigor—with a relentless focus on craftsmanship.
- Shape a long-term technical vision that anticipates industry shifts and aligns with our product roadmap.
- Build and grow exceptional talent—hiring outstanding engineers and mentoring them into future leaders.
- Collaborate deeply across functions to translate real customer needs into innovative, durable solutions.
- Own quality and reliability at scale—delivering systems that are trusted, observable, and built to last.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience leading high-impact engineering teams known for delivering excellence.
- 5+ years building complex, performance-critical systems (e.g., distributed computing, Spark, databases).
- A proven track record of shipping infrastructure that’s powerful, simple, and loved by users.
- A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with product and customers to drive outcomes.
- A deep respect for software craftsmanship and a practical approach to balancing innovation with long-term technical health.
