Salary Range and Benefits
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 dependent upon credentials and experience.
- Benefits:

OAC support role definition
To support our design, construction, and laboratory safety pipelines. In this role, the consultant will conduct detailed reviews of project briefs, plans, architectural drawings, and equipment cut sheets to identify and document EHS issues, ensuring strict alignment with internal design programs and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities may include
● Participating in recurring OAC meetings to consult on EHS considerations for lab build-outs, redesigns, moves, tool installations, and novel equipment design
● Evaluating specialized equipment to determine hazardous materials requirements, collaborating with hazmat reporting teams on regulatory submittals, determining hazardous waste streams and associated space and equipment needs
● Identifying industrial hygiene concerns, including the integration of toxic gas detection systems, ensuring building systems and HVAC are designed appropriately for routine and emergency conditions
● Identifying physical hazards associated with the equipment and advising on appropriate mitigation strategies, such as mechanical hazards, robotics, electrical, lasers, radiation, fall protection / walking surfaces, overhead hazards, etc.
● Creating “Use Letters” for the fire department as needed, documenting how Google is complying with regulatory requirements associated with the requested changes
● Participating in on-site punch walks with project teams, completing associated paperwork, checklists, and identifying issues that are not meeting the design or other regulatory requirements
● Executing a seamless operational hand-off at project close.
● Documenting guidance provided to the project team, and filing all available project documentation in the EHS Google drive
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- The ideal candidate must be highly skilled at documenting issues clearly for project teams, escalating roadblocks to EHS FTEs when necessary to prevent project friction.
- Possess strong working knowledge of OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and California Fire, Building, Electrical Codes and Local Ordinances to ensure a safe workplace.
- Have relevant experience in Safety through Design.
- Experience with Google suite of tools (Chrome, Hangouts, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
- Certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP), or similar. Perferd but not required.
- BA/BS degree in safety or related field, and relevant previous experience (minimum 5 years) with demonstrated ability to perform independent work.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a fast-paced environment. Can execute assigned tasks autonomously and provide strategic guidance on development and implementation of processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead, negotiate, recommend and implement solutions for moderate to complex problems
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and to present and communicate technical information to all levels of management.
- Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to organize and effectively coordinate multiple and frequently conflicting, concurrent tasks, with good follow-through.
