AboutThe Role
We are seeking an exceptionally qualified professional to assume the role of Lead, Public Policy. This pivotal position is responsible for the comprehensive development, strategic counsel, and direct execution of Tapestry’s public policy agenda, with a focus on the intersection between the U.S. energy and AI sectors. The individual selected will function as the organization’s senior policy representative, operating as a highly autonomous individual contributor responsible for all policy output.
Success in this role demands deep, current subject matter expertise in energy policy, coupled with an essential and proven track record of advocacy derived from substantial experience within the private sector.
Key responsibilities include translating complex technical and business imperatives into compelling policy positions, ensuring Tapestry is strategically positioned to navigate and influence critical legislative and regulatory environments. A fundamental requirement for this role is establishing and maintaining an active presence in Washington D.C. to ensure continuous, high‑impact engagement with the policy ecosystem. This position reports to the company’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs.
HowYou’ll Make 10x Impact
- Strategic Advocacy and Influence:
Develop and execute advanced public policy strategies designed to shape legislative and regulatory outcomes across Federal and state levels. Proactively engage with policymakers, key Congressional and administrative offices, and relevant industry bodies to advance Tapestry’s interests. - Policy Analysis and Counsel:
Systematically monitor, analyze, and prioritize policy, legislative, and regulatory developments impacting the company, specifically within the evolving energy and artificial intelligence landscapes. Provide executive‑level counsel on policy implications associated with new products, services, and corporate strategy. - External Stakeholder Engagement:
Cultivate and steward high‑level relationships with a diverse network of external stakeholders, including government officials, trade associations, non‑profit organizations, and academic institutions. - Content Development and Communications:
Author high‑quality, persuasive policy briefs, white papers, legislative language, and testimony. Ensure clear, concise, and accessible communication of Tapestry's policy positions to varied, highly sophisticated audiences. - Operational Execution:
Function as the principal operator for the policy portfolio, personally managing all aspects of policy work from strategy formulation and drafting to direct engagement and representation. - Corporate Alignment:
Serve as the critical interface with Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team to ensure strategic alignment of Tapestry's efforts with the broader corporate policy framework.
