The Central AI organization is part of the larger Atlassian Intelligence program and is responsible for accelerating AI innovation across all products and platform, building cohesive AI experiences, and establishing a unified AI infrastructure.

• Build cutting‑edge machine learning algorithms and train sophisticated models.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to integrate AI functionalities into Atlassian products and services.
• Design system and model architectures, conduct rigorous experimentation and evaluations.
• Provide guidance to junior ML engineers and lead best‑practice initiatives.
• Ensure AI initiatives align with business goals, balancing speed and quality.

Must have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferably Computer Science or equivalent).
• 3+ years of industry experience in data science or machine learning.
• Expertise in Python or Java with production‑quality coding, familiar with SQL, Spark, and cloud data environments (e.g., AWS, Databricks).
• Experience building and scaling ML models for business applications using large data sets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain data science concepts to diverse audiences.
• Business‑focused mindset, high standards for output quality, and understanding of the 80/20 rule.
• Agile development mindset.

Nice to have:

• Experience in consumer or B2C SaaS products or enterprise/B2B space.
• Experience developing deep‑learning models and working on LLM‑related applications.
• Talent for solving ambiguous, complex problems and innovating under uncertainty.

Base pay ranges (by geographic zone):
Zone A: $202,500 – $264,375
Zone B: $182,700 – $238,525
Zone C: $168,300 – $219,725
