AI and search are fundamental to virtually every Linked In experience. Our members use AI to view feed, ads, jobs, notifications, etc. To power these solutions, our AI Infrastructure unites information retrieval, machine learning, and distributed systems.

The mission of the AI Infrastructure team is to create highly available, reliable, and performant AI and information retrieval systems that delight ML Engineers. The distributed search platform must scale across data & traffic while enabling rapid innovation and relevance improvement.

As the Engineering Director of the information retrieval control plane (which includes hosted search), you will lead a team of 50+ engineers, managers, embedded SREs, and TPMs. You will partner with engineering, infrastructure, product, and business leaders to steer the core technical agenda for this domain.

This position is a core member of Linked In’s AI Infrastructure engineering leadership team. You will be a key contributor to the business’s success by delivering member and customer value from Linked In’s economic graph.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering management experience

• 4+ years in data infrastructure, search infrastructure, or ML platforms

• B.A./B.S. degree or higher, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Good understanding of AI model serving and development

• Hands‑on experience building large‑scale distributed systems

• Track record of attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Pay Range: $226,000 to $369,000. Total compensation may include bonus, stock, benefits, and other incentives.
