Patent Litigator, In-House Counsel

Samsung seeks a talented litigator to manage a docket of patent infringement matters out of our Mountain View location. As a part of this team, you will be tasked to own and solve problems. You will be at the forefront of federal court practice along with the potential of being a part of grounding breaking patent law issues. • Manage high exposure patent litigation matters
• Oversee the preparation of witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
• Formulate winning litigation strategies and tactics
• Assist in drafting and reviewing briefs, motions, and court pleadings
• Manage litigation fees and costs
• Coordinate internal document collection and production
• Advise management and internal teams on impactful issues
• Attend industry conferences to gain insights and network with peers

• Juris Doctorate and licensed to practice law in the State of California or qualify to register as California in-house counsel
• 10+ years’ experience of patent litigation at a law firm and/or as an in-house counsel
• Experience leading or managing litigators as a senior associate / junior partner at major law firms and/or litigation boutiques
• Broad range of patent litigation experience, including taking and defending depositions, arguing dispositive motions, jury/bench trial, arbitration and mediation, investigations before the International Trade Commission, PTAB-related proceedings, and experience before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
• Proven written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to formulate successful litigation strategies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team consisting of members from different regions, countries, and business units, including the ability to be diplomatic and culturally sensitive
• Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability
• Openness to feedback, actively seeks constructive criticism, and integrates it to continuously improve performance

• Background in engineering or computer science
• U.S. Patent and Trademark Office admission
• Ability to converse in Korean

The base pay range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training.

This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
