Patent Litigator, In-House Counsel

Samsung Research America (SRA) seeks a senior‑level litigator to manage a docket of patent infringement matters out of our Mountain View location. As a part of this team, you will be tasked to own and solve problems, operate at the forefront of federal court practice, and be part of groundbreaking patent law issues. Lab Summary

Our team handles various intellectual property matters, including intellectual property litigation, patent acquisition, anti‑counterfeit/brand enforcement, patent licensing, and intellectual property policy/outreach. Our talented attorneys and professionals have worked on some of the largest and most complex matters, and we are excited to be bringing on someone new.

Position Responsibilities

• Manage high‑exposure patent litigation matters

• Oversee the preparation of witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial

• Formulate winning litigation strategies and tactics

• Assist in drafting and reviewing briefs, motions, and court pleadings

• Manage litigation fees and costs

Coordinate internal document collection and production

• Advise management and internal teams on impactful issues

• Attend industry conferences to gain insights and network with peers

Experience Requirements

• Juris Doctorate and licensed to practice law in California or qualified to register as California in‑house counsel

• 10+ years’ experience of patent litigation at a law firm and/or as an in‑house counsel

• Experience leading or managing litigators as a senior associate / junior partner at major law firms and/or litigation boutiques

• Broad range of patent litigation experience, including depositions, dispositive motions, jury/bench trial, arbitration and mediation, investigations before the International Trade Commission, PTAB‑related proceedings, and experience before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

• Proven written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to formulate successful litigation strategies

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team consisting of members from different regions, countries, and business units, including diplomatic and culturally sensitive judgment

• Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability

• Openness to feedback, actively seeks constructive criticism, and integrates it to continuously improve performance

Base Pay Range

$197,800—$296,600 USD
