IT Project Manager, IT Consultant
Mountain View seeks a strategic, relationship-driven Chief Information Officer to serve as the City’s catalyst for technology innovation. Reporting to executive leadership, the CIO will shape and advance the City’s strategic vision for digital transformation, guide the thoughtful adoption of emerging technologies, and ensure systems remain secure, resilient, and future-ready.
Mountain View’s sound fiscal practices, disciplined budgeting, and diversified revenue streams have supported long-term stability, including a AAA credit rating. For fiscal year 2025–26, the City’s expenditure budget totals $648.9 million, supporting more than 712 employees across a full-service municipal organization.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, approachable, and actively engaged with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Success requires the ability to lead multiple complex system implementations while balancing long-term strategy with near-term operational needs. Local government experience is desirable. Competitive candidates will have at least five years of info systems experience, including a minimum of three years managing technical staff, along with a bachelor’s degree.
A master’s degree and relevant professional certifications are highly desirable.
The salary range is $238,924–$298,656 (with the City Manager considering compensation up to $328,52) + competitive benefits package.
