Job Description
You will manage the Pages Experience team, building the member and admin facing experiences for Company Pages, Schools, Products, and Services. You will navigate the priorities and strategy of 3 distinct engineering teams and coach the Engineering Manager and senior technical leaders within the team. You’ll work through all elements of driving outcomes and business results, maintaining trust across the platform, and building a UX foundation that will power our Knowledge, Talent, and Products & Services marketplaces.
You’ll partner with others across R&D to understand member needs and create our long‑term strategy and iterative roadmap to execute against.
This role will be based in Mountain View, CA. The work location is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a Linked In office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
- Manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of Linked In products that require design, architecture, and coding.
- Participate with senior management in developing a long‑term technology roadmap.
- Be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.
- Collaborate with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.
- Manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade‑offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speed and quality.
- Develop multi‑tier scalable, high‑volume performing, and reliable user‑centric applications that operate 24x7.
- Produce high‑quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
- Set up success metrics and measurement procedures for each project and product.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.
- 7+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large‑scale software engineering.
- Experience programming in object‑oriented and/or functional programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Scala).
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of software engineering management experience.
- 2+ years experience managing managers.
- Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications.
- Understanding of common performance patterns and anti‑patterns in distributed systems.
- Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality.
- Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps.
- Ability to hire and retain world‑class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high‑impact projects.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders, internal and external, at all levels across the company.
