Senior Software Engineer, Android Context Hub

Join Google as a Senior Software Engineer on the Android Context Hub team. Our engineers develop next‑generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. In this role you will help drive the evolution of low‑power ambient computing by enabling deep integration with specialized hardware to predict and understand user needs without explicit interaction.

About the job

The U.S. base salary range for this full‑time position is $166,000–$244,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location, and individual experience or education.

Responsibilities

• Participate in, or lead, design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.

• Contribute to or lead the design, development, testing, debugging, and optimization of C++ and Java components in the Android and Context Hub frameworks.

• Work with pre‑release Android devices and development boards.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the success of Context Hub features and functionality.

• Ensure code is covered by unit, integration, power, and qualification tests to guarantee high quality across first‑party and third‑party devices.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.

• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

• Experience with C++.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

• 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.

• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

• Experience with embedded systems.

• Understanding of wireless communications technologies, such as Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and cellular networks.
