• Essential Job Functions:
  
  Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons) according to company policy.
• Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons; stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions or issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of repairs.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products and store services.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
