Position Summary
This role builds the organization's long-term ability to support student alumni beyond schooling — enabling sustained educational and career mobility for young people from low-income communities.
The Senior Manager – Student Alumni Pathways & Transitions will design and lead a transition support eco-system enabling student alumni from low-income backgrounds to successfully move from school to higher education and meaningful careers.
The role is responsible for translating alumni insights into strategy, building structured support across key transition stages, building systems, partnerships, and peer communities that collectively provide students with access to opportunities, expertise, and sustained support across key transition stages.
The Senior Manager will act as a  system architect and ecosystem orchestrator , ensuring the right support reaches students at the right time through partners, experts, and alumni networks.

Team Overview
The Careers Team caters to providing college/career readiness support and opportunities to our Fellows-Fellow Alumni. More recently, we have expanded our scope to also provide this support to our Students-Student Alumni. This team plays a crucial role in matching the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system. The overarching charge of this team is to foster lifelong connections through platforms, events, strategic partnerships and more to fuel ongoing interest and visibility into opportunities for individuals to engage with careers enabling educational equity in India.
The Student Alumni Wing, an integral part of our commitment to lifelong success, operates within the broader Careers Team framework, fostering connections among 14,000+ student alumni across 7 cities. Its charge will be to create platforms that foster and encourage many to make support for our Student Alum to grow in their abilities to lead themselves, others and create change.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities of the Senior Manager of the Student Alumni Wing:
Owning strategy:
Define and evolve a comprehensive, long-term strategy for the Student Alumni Wing, aligning with the organization's goals and mission.
Operationalize the strategy, outlining clear processes and workflows for effective implementation.
Design strong foundational operations, data management, collaboration systems that anchor the work, are sustainable, scalable, adaptable yet enduring
Collaborate with city teams to integrate the student alumni wing seamlessly into their operations, ensuring a cohesive and synchronized approach across different locations.
System and transition support design:
Design a transition navigation system focused on key decision moments
Establish frameworks that clarify what support students need, when, and through whom
Translate alumni insights into strategic interventions
Ensure coherence across readiness, navigation, partnerships, and community efforts
Creating and eco-system of support:
Curate opportunities that will help our student alumni grow in their ability to access colleges, secure livelihoods and career of their choice, foster community and be changemakers
Identify and engage expert organizations, institutions, and practitioners aligned to differentiated needs of students and regions
Enable partnerships that provide scalable support
Work closely with the Partnerships Manager to align opportunity pipelines with transition priorities
Ensure partner contributions integrate seamlessly into the student journey
Community & Peer Support Architecture
Design structures for student and alumni communities to support navigation and decision-making
Enable peer learning networks across cohorts and cities
Strengthen alumni-to-student mentorship and support pathways
Establish engagement mechanisms (digital communities, interest groups, transition cohorts)
Ensure communities complement structured supports
Team Leadership & Alignment
Senior Manager responsible for managing team members focused on:
Early Readiness (Grades 8–10)
Transition Navigation
Partnerships & Opportunities
Align team work toward shared transition outcomes rather than isolated initiatives
Build understanding and alignment on the role of the student alumni vertical and the careers team at larger, as well as regional teams and their student alumni focused efforts
Drive visibility and understanding of the student alumni vertical - partnering with Teach For India's branding and communications team, development team and others as relevant
Represent Careers Team pathways in internal and external forums
