Roles and responsibilities of a special educator:
Assess students' learning abilities and needs.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Adapt teaching methods and learning materials.
Teach academic, social, communication, and daily living skills.
Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other teachers.
Monitor students' progress and modify strategies as needed.
Support inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms where appropriate.
A special educator may work with individuals who have:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Intellectual disabilities
Learning disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Hearing or visual impairments
Speech and language disorders
Physical disabilities
Multiple disabilities
Skills required:
Patience and empathy
Strong communication skills
Problem-solving and creativity
Knowledge of special education techniques and assistive technologies
Collaboration and teamwork
