Character Designer

About the Role
We are looking for a talented and creative  Character Designer  to join our in-house animation team for an upcoming  kids’ entertainment animation show  being developed for Television and You Tube.
The Character Designer will be responsible for creating appealing, expressive, memorable, and age-appropriate characters that fit the show's visual style, storytelling, and overall creative direction.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and design  original characters  based on story, scripts, character briefs, and creative requirements.
Create characters that are visually appealing, expressive, relatable, and suitable for a  kids’ entertainment audience .
Develop the complete visual identity of characters, including  facial features, hairstyles, costumes, accessories, body proportions, and overall personality .
Create multiple character design options and explore different visual approaches before finalizing designs.
Prepare  character turnaround sheets  including front, side, back, ¾ and other required views.
Create  expression sheets  and different emotional poses for characters.
Develop  pose sheets and action poses  to help animators understand character movement and personality.
Ensure characters are designed keeping  2D animation requirements and production feasibility  in mind.

Work closely with  Storyboard Artists, Concept Artists, Background Artists, Animators, Directors, and the Production Team  to ensure consistency throughout the show.
Maintain consistency in character proportions, costumes, colours, expressions, and visual details across episodes.
Modify and refine character designs based on feedback from the  Creative Director / Director / Show Team .
Create supporting characters, recurring characters, and background characters as required by the scripts.
Design character props, accessories, costumes, and other visual elements wherever required.
Ensure final character artwork is  clean, organized, and production-ready  for the animation pipeline.
Maintain proper naming, layering, file organization, and artwork standards as required by the production team.
Adapt existing character designs for different situations, costumes, festivals, episodes, and special content.

Collaborate with the team to maintain a  consistent visual language and style guide  for the show.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall look and appeal of the characters and the series.

Experience in kids' animation, TV shows or episodic content will be preferred.
