We are seeking a dynamic, clinically strong, and quality-driven Lab Director to lead our pathology services and support the next phase of growth.

Position Overview

The Lab Director – Pathology will be responsible for overall clinical, operational, quality, and administrative leadership of the pathology laboratory.
This role requires strong diagnostic acumen, NABL expertise, operational efficiency, and doctor engagement capability, with accountability for 24×7 lab functioning.

Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical & Diagnostic Leadership

- Oversee day-to-day pathology testing and reporting across all laboratory sections
- Ensure accurate interpretation, validation, and timely release of reports
- Provide strong clinical correlation and interpretative comments where required
- Handle complex, critical, and specialty cases
- Maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and ethics

2. Quality Management & NABL Compliance

- Lead and ensure complete NABL compliance across all lab processes
- With help of QM, prepare and manage:
- Internal audits
- External NABL audits
- Surveillance audits
- Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, IQC, EQAS, TAT monitoring, and quality indicators
- If experienced as a NABL assessor/auditor, it will be a strong added advantage

3. Laboratory Administration & Operations

- Overall responsibility for 24×7 laboratory operations
- Supervise and guide:
- Lab technologists
- Supervisors and support staff
- Optimize:
- Workflow efficiency
- Turnaround times (TAT)
- Resource utilization
- Ensure equipment uptime, reagent planning, and inventory management

4. Product Development & Test Portfolio Expansion

- Design and introduce new test panels and specialty investigations
- Develop:
- Preventive health check packages
- Organ-specific panels
- Advanced and esoteric tests
- Evaluate feasibility, pricing, clinical relevance, and demand trends

5. Doctor Engagement & Clinical Outreach

- Actively engage with:
- Consulting physicians
- Hospitals
- Clinics
- Corporate doctors
- Conduct doctor interactions, case discussions, and scientific updates
- Strengthen Lifecare’s image as a clinically reliable reference laboratory
- Support marketing and BD teams with scientific inputs and doctor connect

6. Academic & Professional Representation

- Represent Lifecare Diagnostics at:
- Conferences
- CMEs
- Workshops
- Pathology forums
- Conduct or participate in:
- CME programs
- Knowledge-sharing sessions
- In-house training for staff

7. Technology, Systems & Continuous Improvement

- Work closely with management on:
- LIMS optimization
- Digitization of workflows
- Automation and analyzer upgrades
- Monitor key lab KPIs:
- TAT
- Rejection rates
- Quality indicators
- Productivity metrics

8. Risk Management & Governance

- Ensure:
- Patient safety
- Bio-medical waste compliance
- Infection control protocols
- Regulatory and legal compliance
- Handle incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions

Desired Candidate Profile Qualifications

- MD / DNB in Pathology (mandatory)
- Valid medical registration
- NABL training or auditor experience preferred

Experience

- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in diagnostic laboratory environment
- Prior experience as:
- Lab Director / Chief Pathologist / Senior Consultant preferred
- Strong exposure to NABL-accredited labs
