SEO - Assistant Manager

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced SEO Specialist with a strong background in news and publisher ecosystems to drive organic growth across breaking news, live blogs, evergreen stories, and data-driven content. The role demands deep expertise in Google News, Top Stories, Discover, and evolving search formats, along with strong analytical and technical capabilities.

The ideal candidate will combine editorial understanding, data analysis, and technical SEO skills to maximize content visibility and audience reach in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

1) News SEO & Content Discovery

- Optimize breaking news, live blogs, and trending stories for Google Top Stories, Google News, Discover, and other discovery surfaces.
- Work closely with editorial teams to align headlines, metadata, internal linking, and publishing cadence with SEO best practices.
- Track real-time performance and implement quick optimizations for high-traffic and high-impact stories.

2) Evergreen, Lifestyle & Data Content Optimization

- Lead SEO strategy for evergreen content, including lifestyle, explainers, guides, and reference articles to ensure sustained organic growth.
- Ensure evergreen and lifestyle stories are structured for search intent, internal linking, rich results, and long-term visibility.

3) Analytics, Reporting & Data Analysis

- Analyze organic performance using Google Search Console, GA4, Discover reports, and third-party SEO tools.
- Expert-level proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets for data analysis, including pivot tables, formulas, trend analysis, and large dataset handling.
- Translate data into clear insights, performance reports, and actionable recommendations for editorial and leadership teams.

3) Technical SEO & Site Performance

- Conduct regular SEO audits to identify and resolve issues related to crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, and structured data.
- Collaborate with developers and product teams to improve site speed, technical architecture, and SEO-friendly CMS features.
- Ensure compliance with mobile-first indexing and best practices for large-scale publishing platforms.

4) Strategy, AEO, GEO & Future Search Readiness

- Develop and execute SEO strategies aligned with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) to improve visibility in AI-powered search and answer-based platforms.
- Optimize content for featured snippets, knowledge panels, conversational queries, and AI-driven discovery experiences.
- Stay updated with Google algorithm changes, SERP evolution, AI search trends, and competitive publisher strategies.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3–5 years of SEO experience, with significant exposure to news or media publishing platforms.
- Strong expertise in Google News, Discover, and news-specific ranking systems.
- Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, Google Analytics (GA4), Looker Studio, Keyword Research tools, and related platforms.
- Solid understanding of technical SEO, including site speed optimization, structured data, indexing, and Core Web Vitals.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets-based data analysis for SEO reporting and insights.
- Working knowledge of AEO and GEO concepts and their impact on content visibility.

- Experience with CMS platforms such as Word Press and collaboration with development teams.
