The Manager – Library Assistance will independently manage all library operations at the Mumbai campus, leveraging Koha ILS for core functions such as OPAC, acquisitions, and reporting. The role will ensure seamless support for STEM students and faculty while maintaining integration with the Chicago campus systems.
Key Responsibilities
Administer Koha modules including circulation, cataloging ( MARC
21 ), serials, and patron management; manage upgrades, backups, and custom reports.
Provide direct user assistance for research, Koha navigation, and digital tools (e.g., self-checkout and RFID integration).
Acquire and maintain library collections; evaluate e-resources and generate usage analytics through Koha dashboards.
Deliver information literacy sessions and workshops on Koha features and library services.
Manage the library budget, vendor contracts, and ensure compliance with INFLIBNET/UGC standards.
Coordinate resource sharing with Illinois Tech global libraries and resolve IT-related issues promptly.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library Science ( MLIS ) with 3+ years of experience in academic libraries , preferably in technology-focused environments.
Proven expertise in Koha ILS , including full implementation, Zebra search configuration, and Linux/MySQL maintenance.
Strong IT proficiency including scripting (Perl), digital repositories, and familiarity with Indian library networks.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on user-centric service.
