A Desktop Support Specialist with Asset Management responsibilities handles end-user IT issues while tracking the complete lifecycle of hardware and software. They ensure employees have functioning equipment and maintain accurate physical and digital inventories to optimize budgets and maintain security compliance.

Key Responsibilities
1.
IT Asset Management (ITAM)
Lifecycle Tracking:
Oversee hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals) and software licenses from procurement to deployment, reassignment, and disposal.

Inventory Audits:
Conduct routine physical and digital audits to ensure all equipment is accounted for and system records match.

Asset Configuration:
Maintain updated configuration items (CIs) in IT Service Management (ITSM) tools like Service Now.

Compliance:
Ensure proper tagging, tracking, and compliance with data privacy and security guidelines during asset disposal.

2. Desktop & End-User Support Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues via walk-ins, phone, or remote access.

Provisioning:
Prepare, configure, and deploy new workstations for onboarding employees, ensuring necessary software is installed.

Ticketing:
Resolve incidents and requests according to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and log all troubleshooting steps.

Patching & Updates:
Apply security patches, OS updates, and antivirus definitions to maintain a secure desktop environment.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:

3-5+ years in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or IT asset management.

Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS, alongside basic networking (TCP/IP, VPN, Wi-Fi).

System Familiarity:
Proficiency with remote access software and ITSM/Asset Management platforms (e.g., Service Now, Jira Service Management, or Microsoft Endpoint Manager).

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to lift IT equipment and manage warehouse/stockroom environments.
