Forward Deployed Engineer / Product Engineer

$35–$40/hour for contract engagements.

Required Experience
2+ years of experience in software engineering, implementation engineering, solutions engineering, product engineering, technical consulting or a similar customer-facing engineering role. Candidates with 3+ years of highly relevant experience in SaaS, AI products, APIs, automation or enterprise implementation may also be considered.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent practical experience in software development, product implementation, API-based systems or customer-facing engineering will also be considered.
About the Role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers, internal users, product teams and engineering teams to turn product capability into working software outcomes. This role is suited for someone who can understand business requirements, build practical solutions and help deploy products in real operating environments. You will work across discovery, solution design, implementation, automation and product feedback, helping customers move from problem definition to successful adoption.
What You’ll Work On
Work with customers and internal users to understand process gaps, use cases, operating challenges and implementation needs.
Build practical solutions using software, APIs, data, automation, product configuration and lightweight internal tools.
Support product deployment by connecting customers’ needs with available product capabilities and engineering options.
Create scripts, integrations, prototypes or small tools that help solve real business problems.
Identify gaps between user needs and current product behavior, then share clear findings with product and engineering teams.
Troubleshoot product setup issues, data flow problems, integration questions and deployment blockers.
Document implementation notes, setup steps, recurring issues and product learnings for internal and customer-facing use.
Work with solutions, product, engineering and implementation teams to move projects from planning to live use.
What We’re Looking For
You bring strong experience in software engineering, implementation engineering, solutions engineering or technical consulting.
Should have experience building, configuring or deploying software in customer, enterprise or internal operations environments.
You bring the ability to understand business processes quickly and convert them into clear technical requirements.
Should be comfortable working with APIs, data flows, integrations, automation, scripting or product configuration.
You bring clear communication skills for working with both engineering teams and non-technical users.
Should be able to break down unclear problems, define practical next steps and build usable solutions.
You bring strong documentation habits for implementation details, product gaps, user requirements and deployment learnings.
Should be comfortable working remotely with customers and teams across India, the US or other global markets.
Good to Have
Experience with SaaS products, AI-enabled software, enterprise platforms or operations-heavy products.
Familiarity with Python, SQL, APIs, cloud platforms, data pipelines or automation tools.
Experience working with US customers, enterprise buyers or global implementation teams.
Background in consulting, product engineering, solutions engineering or customer-facing technical delivery.
Exposure to utilities, internal operations tools, field operations, compliance-heavy products or administrative systems.
