System Engineer

Job description
Project execution:  Drive the installation, configuration, and testing of all hardware and software components within the data center, including servers, operating systems (Windows, Linux), storage systems (SAN/NAS), and network devices.

System design and architecture:  Collaborate with project stakeholders to design a scalable, resilient, and secure data center architecture that meets business requirements. Create and maintain detailed documentation, including architecture diagrams, network layouts, and operational procedures.

System integration:  Ensure seamless integration between various data center systems and existing enterprise-wide infrastructure.

Virtualization:  Deploy and manage virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and optional containerization platforms like Dockers & Kubernetes to optimize resource utilization.

Automation:  Develop and maintain custom scripts (e.g., Python, Power Shell, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and reducing human error.

Backup and recovery:  Implement and manage robust backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data safety and business continuity.

Security:  Enforce and maintain data center security best practices, including access controls, firewalls, and security patches.

Capacity planning:  Monitor growth trends and forecast future capacity requirements for servers, storage, and networking.

Collaboration and support:  Work closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and IT personnel. Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for infrastructure-related issues.
