What You'll Work On

You will contribute to the administration, optimization, modernization, and migration of PostgreSQL database environments across on-premises and AWS cloud infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and optimize high-load PostgreSQL database environments.
- Monitor, analyze, and tune complex and long-running SQL queries.
- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize indexes, query execution plans, and PostgreSQL configurations.
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Plan and execute PostgreSQL version upgrades across on-premises and AWS RDS environments.
- Perform compatibility assessments for stored procedures, functions, triggers, and application workloads.
- Validate database stability, performance, and data integrity following upgrades.
- Design, provision, and manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL environments.
- Support cloud database architecture, scalability, security, and high-availability initiatives.
- Lead database migration projects between on-premises and AWS environments.
- Automate database operations using scripting and Dev Ops practices.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and Dev Ops teams to improve platform reliability and scalability.

You will work closely with senior engineering teams supporting business-critical systems operating at enterprise scale.

Core Skills We're Looking For

Must Have

- 7+ years of Database Administration experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL.
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and performance tuning.
- Strong experience in:
- Query Optimization
- Index Tuning
- Execution Plan Analysis
- Vacuum & Autovacuum Optimization
- Database Configuration Tuning
- Proven experience executing PostgreSQL version upgrades and migrations.
- Strong expertise in compatibility testing and upgrade validation.
- Experience managing AWS RDS PostgreSQL environments.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.

- Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and failover strategies.
- Knowledge of database monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Strong SQL troubleshooting and performance analysis skills.
- Experience supporting large-scale or high-traffic production systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with AWS services such as:
- EC2
- IAM
- VPC
- S3
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Database Dev Ops practices.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL replication and high-availability architectures.
- Scripting expertise in Bash, Python, or similar languages.

- Experience with cloud modernization and database transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to containerized and cloud-native environments.
