We are looking for a senior virtualization systems engineer with 10+ years of infrastructure experience to lead and support enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere and Nutanix AHV.
This role requires someone who can operate independently, drive platform upgrades end-to-end, validate application compatibility, partner with application and infrastructure teams, and help evaluate future virtualization platform options if the organization decides to move away from VMware, Nutanix, or current-state architecture.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who asks the right questions, identifies risks early, communicates clearly, and can move initiatives forward with minimal guidance.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with strong focus on virtualization and data center technologies.
- Deep hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, DRS, HA, vMotion, storage vMotion, templates, snapshots, and lifecycle management.
- Strong experience with Nutanix AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, AOS, clusters, storage containers, and VM operations.
- Experience leading or supporting major virtualization upgrades.
- Experience validating application and workload readiness during infrastructure upgrades.
- Strong understanding of server hardware, firmware, BIOS, drivers, storage, SAN/NAS, networking, and backup integrations.
- Experience with enterprise change management, incident management, and problem management processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, network, OS, and virtualization layers.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Experience
- Experience with virtualization platform migrations or evaluations.
- Exposure to alternative platforms such as Hyper-V, Open Shift Virtualization, Proxmox, KVM, Azure VMware Solution, Google Cloud VMware Engine, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, or AWS VMware-related migration paths.
- Experience with automation tools such as PowerCLI, Power Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or Nutanix Calm.
- Experience with disaster recovery tools such as VMware SRM, Zerto, Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, or Nutanix Leap.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud, cloud migration, and data center modernization strategies.
- Experience working in regulated, enterprise, or large-scale production environments.
