Freelance Mainframe IMS Application DBA; IMS DBA Analyst

Position: Freelance Mainframe IMS Application DBA (IMS DBA Analyst)
We are looking for an experienced  Mainframe IMS Application DBA / IMS DBA Analyst  to support mission-critical IMS database environments running on  IBM z/OS .
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in  IMS Database Administration, performance tuning, database recovery, IMS utilities, and troubleshooting  in high-availability enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support  IMS DB environments

• Administer  Full Function, Fast Path, and HALDB  databases

• Perform database definition, allocation, dataset management, REORGs, and space management

• Manage  DBD, PSB, ACB libraries, and IMS Catalog

• Execute IMS utilities including  Load/Unload, Reorganization, Image Copy, and Recovery

• Perform  Image Copy Recovery and Point-in-Time (PIT) Recovery

• Troubleshoot database abends such as  Uxxxx and S0

Cxx

• Investigate data corruption, integrity issues, space constraints, and application-related database issues

• Perform  IMS database performance monitoring and tuning

• Support physical database design and database builds

• Work closely with Application Development, IMS System Programming, and Operations teams

• Provide independent application development and database support

• Create technical solution designs, process flows, and procedural documentation

Mandatory Skills

✅ 5 + years of IMS DBA experience in IBM z/OS environments
✅ Strong hands-on experience with  IMS DB

✅ Experience with  Full Function, Fast Path & HALDB
✅ Knowledge of  Secondary Indexing & Logical Relationships

✅ Experience with  IMS Database Performance & Tuning
✅ Strong knowledge of  IMS Database Backup & Recovery
✅ Hands-on experience with  IMS utilities

✅ Experience with  DBD, PSB, ACB & IMS Catalog
✅ Experience troubleshooting  IMS database abends and data integrity issues
✅ Strong  z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF & SDSF  knowledge
✅ Experience supporting  batch and online IMS DB/DC environments
✅ Knowledge of  Sysplexed Data Sharing

✅ Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting
