Job Summary

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing end-to-end B2B dispatches and production pickups, ensuring efficient FTL vehicle placement, optimized route planning, freight control, and adherence to delivery TAT. The role requires strong knowledge of multi-modal transportation (Air, Rail, and Surface) to ensure cost-effective and timely movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities

1. B2B Dispatch Management

- Plan and execute bulk B2B shipments to distributors, modern trade, and institutional clients.
- Ensure on-time vehicle placement and dispatch adherence.
- Coordinate with warehouse and channel teams for smooth loading operations.
- Track shipments until POD closure.

2. Production Pickup Coordination

- Arrange timely vehicle placement for factory/production pickups.
- Ensure smooth material movement from production units to warehouse or customer locations.
- Align dispatch schedules with production planning team.
- Avoid production hold-ups due to vehicle unavailability.

3. FTL Vehicle Placement & Transporter Management

- Manage Full Truck Load (FTL) vehicle placement across regions.
- Develop and maintain transporter network.
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts.
- Ensure vehicle availability during peak demand periods.

4. Route Planning & Analysis

- Conduct route analysis for cost and time optimization.
- Identify shortest and most efficient delivery routes.
- Analyze lane-wise freight and TAT performance.
- Implement route consolidation and load optimization strategies.

5. Freight & Cost Management

- Monitor freight costs across lanes and modes.
- Compare Air vs Rail vs Surface cost-benefit for urgent shipments.
- Optimize cost per kg / per ton / per truck.
- Validate transporter bills and prevent overbilling.
- Control detention, halting, and additional charges.

6. TAT & Multi-Modal Transport Management

- Ensure adherence to delivery TAT commitments.
- Decide transportation mode based on urgency, cost, and distance:
- Air Freight – urgent and high-value shipments
- Rail (Train) – long-distance bulk cost optimization
- Surface (FTL/PTL) – regular distribution
- Monitor transit performance and reduce delays.
- Maintain contingency planning for breakdowns or disruptions.

7. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

- Track key KPIs:
- On-Time Dispatch (OTD)
- On-Time Delivery (OTIF)
- Freight Cost per Ton/Kg
- Vehicle Placement TAT
- Lane-wise Cost Efficiency
- Prepare weekly/monthly MIS reports.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong FTL and transporter management experience
- Route planning and lane analysis expertise
- Freight negotiation & cost control
- Knowledge of Air, Rail, and Surface logistics
- Strong coordination & escalation handling
- Understanding of POD, e-way bill, and documentation

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree (Supply Chain / Logistics / Commerce preferred)
- MBA in Supply Chain (preferred)

Experience

- 6–10 years in B2B logistics & transportation management
- Experience handling production dispatch and factory pickups
- Strong exposure to multi-modal freight operations
