Expanding the Civic Promise for All, a three-year, $1.76 million federally funded initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Education. Housed in the Center for Economic & Civic Learning (CECL), CREATE
250 expands Ball State’s nationally recognized civic learning model statewide, serving Indiana’s Title I schools through professional development, teacher leadership, and student civic engagement in advance of America’s 250th anniversary.

We are seeking a dynamic professional who demonstrates independent judgment, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven ability to lead complex, multi-year initiatives. The ideal candidate excels at coordinating stakeholders, managing intricate funding obligations, and ensuring projects are executed efficiently and successfully.

The CREATE
250 Project Director will provide day-to-day leadership for a complex, high-visibility federal project and serves as the primary administrator for budgeting, reporting, compliance, and program coordination. This position works in direct consultation with the Principal Investigator, academic leadership, school districts, and statewide partners to ensure successful implementation of program activities, responsible stewardship of federal funds, and achievement of grant outcomes.

This is a grant-funded position and continuation is contingent upon project funding. The appointment is expected to run for the duration of the award period. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of external funding.

250:
Expanding the Civic Promise for All, a federally funded, statewide initiative led by Ball State University’s Center for Economic & Civic Learning (CECL). This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, fiscal coordination, reporting, compliance, partnerships, and program delivery across Indiana’s Title I schools.

The Project Director serves as the project’s central administrator and is accountable for ensuring faithful implementation of the federal grant, adherence to U.S. Department of Education requirements, and alignment with Ball State University policies and procedures. The role works in consultation with the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, academic leadership, school districts, and statewide partners to ensure successful implementation of program activities.

The Project Director is responsible for the stewardship of federal funds and achievement of grant outcomes.

This role is responsible for the supervision of graduate assistants, undergraduate employees, and temporary project staff.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, implement, supervise, and manage overall project activities in coordination with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI).
  • Lead daily operations for CREATE
    250 regarding the development and coordination of professional development programs, statewide events, and national field experiences.
  • Manage grant implementation to ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional requirements.
  • Oversee budget coordination in collaboration with Sponsored Projects Administration and departmental staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and oversee the development of required reports, ensuring compliance with the U.S. Department of Education guidelines and timely submission of financial, narrative, and performance reports.
  • Coordinate teacher recruitment, onboarding, and support across participating districts.
  • Lead outreach and communication efforts with educational, civic, and professional partners across Indiana, including the development and dissemination of a monthly newsletter, design and coordination of professional development communications, and creation of promotional materials to engage stakeholders.
