About this opportunity:The Center for Information and Communication Sciences has part-time adjunct instructor positions available. Primary responsibility will be teaching online graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Career and Technical Education program and/or the Director of Career and Technical Education Licensure program. Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
What you'll do and what you'll bring:The Center for Information and Communication Sciences has part-time adjunct instructor positions available. Primary responsibility will be teaching online graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Career and Technical Education program and/or the Director of Career and Technical Education Licensure program.
Successful candidates are expected to teach online graduate course(s) in Canvas, communicate regularly with Ball State University graduate students, provide timely, detailed, and meaningful assessment, submit EAB Navigate attendance, student feedback requests, and midterm grades. Successful candidates will also submit final grades in Canvas.
Please note that applications will remain active for 1 year. Therefore, if you apply for this position, you may not hear from the department until there is a need to hire an instructor.
Duties and Responsibilities:The activities to be performed include delivering the teacher training services for qualified occupationally competent individuals allowing them to meet requirements to convert their initial Workplace Specialist I license to a Workplace Specialist II license. The tasks associated with accomplishing this are described herein.
As a teacher trainer in this project, you will be required to deliver teacher training services for qualified occupationally competent individuals allowing them to meet requirements to convert their initial Workplace Specialist I license to a Workplace Specialist II license.
As a teacher trainer, the following will be expected:
- Weekly instruction using the Ball State University Learning Management System online learning modules during the entire period of the contract. Participant assignment submissions and/or re-submissions will be graded using provided rubrics when applicable within 3 days along with detailed individualized grade book feedback (Detailed Grade Book Comments).
- Respond to all phone, e-mail, or postage correspondence from project participants with a positive and professional demeanor within 48 hours.
- Attend the Indiana Statewide
CTEProfessional Development Conference in September on Friday and be available to attend/participate in the conference sessions as directed by the Principal Investigator. (The Indiana Statewide
CTEProfessional Development Conference location will be determined by the organization hosting it.) - Provide the Principal Investigator with all data and reports as requested within 3 days during the period of the contract.
- Attend any and all live or virtual meetings as directed by the Principal Investigator. (The location of virtual meetings as directed by the Principal Investigator will be determined by him.)
- Notify and collaborate with ACTEmentor via e-mail and phone when teachers are struggling and develop an appropriate intervention plan collaboratively. This should be done as soon as teachers get two units behind or if the teachers earns less than 80% for a single unit.
- Collaborate with mentors and CTE directors by providing them with updates regarding teacher performance. Notify mentors and CTE directors when teachers are struggling and develop an appropriate intervention plan collaboratively. This should be done as soon as teachers get two units behind or if the teachers earn less than 80% for a single unit.
Mentors and CTE directors may be able to help the teachers get back on track. - The tangible items that will result as an outcome from this agreement include graded work allowing for successful completion of the Professional Development for Career and Technical Teachers with Workplace Specialist I Certification for up to 250 teachers during the entire period of contract. Regular communication with teachers, their mentors, their CTE directors, and/or their building principals will be required.
Has a doctoral degree, specialists' degree, or a master's degree and demonstrated scholarly competence in an appropriate specialization for professional education.
Has held or holds certification or licensure for teaching.
