The Associate Human Resources Partner collaborates closely with employees at all levels within the university to support HR hiring processes. This role is ideal for someone who is people-focused, proactive, a problem-solver, and eager to grow in the HR field.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Partner, the Associate Human Resources Partner will facilitate and oversee various human resources processes such as position description development, job postings, candidate selection and offer, and background screening; serve as an HR liaison for temporary employment placement and for assigned areas; advise and counsel employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding university policies and state and federal laws and regulations that impact the human resources functions;

provide guidance regarding talent acquisition, retention, classification, compensation and other related Human Resources matters; serve on HR project teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer the employment, promotion, and transfer process for staff, professional, faculty, and service positions in assigned areas according to university policies and procedures.
  • Advise and counsel employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding university policies and state and federal laws and regulations that impact the human resources functions.
  • Provide guidance regarding talent acquisition, retention, classification, compensation and other related Human Resources matters. Serve on HR project teams.
  • Review requisitions to fill vacancies; review and provide guidance on job descriptions and develop job offers in Workday, advise on FSLA exemption status, determine if immigration cases are probable. Monitor recruitment pools to determine if additional recruitment efforts are needed. Attend job fairs.
  • Manage all adjunct faculty and temporary employee requisitions for assigned areas; liaise with departments throughout the search, from job description development to candidate selection and hire.
  • Determine salary/wage rates for new hires and transfers, verify employment eligibility for new hires, and manage background screenings for hires in assigned areas.
  • Initiate and participate in cross-functional work teams in order to improve HR processes and programs. Participate in all phases of implementation, validation, and rollout as well as ongoing communication and training; serve as project lead as assigned.
  • Serve as a resource to provide guidance and troubleshooting for departments on Workday and Banner functions/processes, especially Workday applicant tracking/recruiting and compensation-related tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or, an associate's degree and two additional years of experience or four years of additional work experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • At least one year of experience (either full or part-time) in an office and/or professional setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to effectively and confidently interact and communicate with all levels within the organization, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to identify and manage ambiguous situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Work experience in human resources performing duties related to the recruitment function.
  • Experience working in higher education or the public sector.
