The Day Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role supports daily manufacturing schedules by minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment is operating at optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair production machinery, including conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, electrical controls, and PLC-driven equipment (if applicable).
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production teams to minimize downtime.
- Conduct equipment inspections, identify potential problems, and document findings.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning of new machinery.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and plant policies.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper care of tools and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of industrial equipment.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (e.g., controls, sensors, motors).
- Ability to use hand and power tools, multimeters, welders, and other trade equipment.
- Understanding of safety standards such as OSHA and LOTO.
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
- Technical degree or trade school certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or similar.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, robotics, or automated systems.
- Prior manufacturing or industrial plant experience.
- CMMS experience.
