Description:

Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Floating to like units is required. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Travelers must have experience managing a patient ratio of 5-7 patients.

Knowledge of telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and IV maintenance is essential. Ideal staffing on the unit consists of 5 nurses and 3 techs for 5 patients per nurse. Occasionally, staffing may adjust to 4 nurses with an increased patient ratio. Cardiac experience is not required; any medical/surgical or telemetry experience is sufficient. Block scheduling may be available, but it is not guaranteed.

Special procedures and patient diagnoses include chest pain, heart failure, and alcohol withdrawal. Travelers are expected to uphold high standards of patient care and work collaboratively with the team. Floating between hospitals or affiliate units is mandatory for all travelers. Two supervisor references are required for submission. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program. Experience with the Cerner charting system is preferred.
