Sr. Accountant

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Sr. Accountant role is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with audits. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and contributing to process improvements across the organization.

Reports to the Controller and is located in Mundelein, IL.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Analyze financial data and variances to provide actionable insights.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
• Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and process improvements.
• Prepare sales tax filings, property tax filings, and other regulatory reports as needed.
• Monitor and maintain the integrity of financial records and internal controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial reporting and operational efficiency.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the food manufacturing, CPG, or distribution industries.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger functions. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment; must understand manufacturing-related leases.
• Experience with monthly BEA filings.
• Strong problem‑solving ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

The compensation package for this position is commensurate with experience and includes an attractive base salary with bonus incentive and a comprehensive benefits package.
