Job Description
We are currently partnered with a $15B Credit Fund looking to expand their CMBS investment team by bringing on an experience Analyst/ Associate. The firm manages multiple strategies focused on asset-based and structured credit opportunities across North America and Europe. It is known for long-standing investor partnerships built on transparency, sound governance and consistent execution.
The CMBS Investment Analyst/ Associate will be a core contributor to the investment process across commercial real estate lending and securities. The analyst will work on opportunities end to end, from initial screening through execution and ongoing monitoring. This is a hands-on seat on a small, collaborative team. It offers direct exposure to senior investment professionals and to the full CRE credit opportunity set: new-issue and secondary CMBS, whole loans, REIT debt and special situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite commercial real estate collateral and analyze credit, securities structure and relative value
- Evaluate a broad range of real estate credit opportunities, including new-issue and secondary CMBS (performing and distressed), loan acquisitions, REIT debt and special situations
- Conduct market research and comparable analysis to support valuations and investment theses
- Draft investment memoranda and other materials for internal and external audiences
- Support transaction execution alongside senior members of the team
- Engage directly with brokers, borrowers, dealers and servicers
Requirements:
- 3–6 years of experience in financial services, such as investment banking, insurance, REITs, specialty finance, leveraged finance, debt capital markets or research
- Ability to evaluate real estate investments using multiple valuation methodologies, with a solid understanding of key market drivers
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel; familiarity with Trepp, Intex, Bloomberg and/or Argus is a plus
- A self-directed researcher who also thrives within a small, collaborative team
- Able to manage multiple work streams and deadlines at once
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic record
