About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a fast-growing, specialty insurance MGA that is expanding its Tax Liability Insurance practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced M&A tax professional to transition into the transactional insurance market and join a growing platform with significant opportunities for professional development and career progression.
The team is looking for someone with a strong technical foundation in M&A tax who is interested in applying their expertise in a more commercial, transaction-focused environment. The position offers exposure to complex, high-value transactions and the opportunity to work closely with leading law firms, private equity sponsors, brokers, and corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite tax risks associated with M&A transactions, corporate restructurings, and other complex transactions.
- Review tax due diligence reports, transaction documents, tax opinions, and supporting materials to assess potential exposures.
- Work closely with brokers, legal advisors, and clients to structure tailored tax liability insurance solutions.
- Assess transaction risks and support underwriting decisions, including policy pricing, coverage terms, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with senior underwriters and leadership to execute transactions and support the continued growth of the tax insurance practice.
- Develop relationships with brokers, law firms, private equity firms, and other key market participants.
- Stay informed on developments in tax legislation, regulations, and transactional insurance.
Ideal Candidate
- 5-8 years of M&A tax experience, ideally within a Big Four accounting firm or established tax advisory practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of US federal income tax, transaction structuring, and tax due diligence.
- Experience advising on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other complex transactions.
- Ability to analyze complex tax issues and communicate findings clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an interest in developing client relationships and working in a transaction-driven environment.
- Commercial mindset, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
Location & Flexibility
New York City-based candidates are preferred, although there is flexibility for strong candidates located throughout the Northeast. Candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance of NYC and willing to travel into the city periodically to collaborate with the team.
