Nursing Home
Job Description
A small, family-run, hospital-based practice in Denver is hiring NPs and PAs to care for medically complex adults across a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital, acute rehab units, and hospital backup units inside skilled nursing facilities. Many patients are ventilator-dependent and stay for weeks to a year, so you'll build real relationships with them and their families. Every new hire, experienced or not, rounds with the supervising physician for at least 3 months before practicing independently.
Many of the practice's long-term NPs started here right out of school, and several have stayed a decade or more. You'll work three 12-hour shifts a week with phone-only call, and the practice works around family schedules where it can.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of medically complex, often ventilator-dependent patients across LTAC and hospital backup unit sites
- Round with the supervising physician for 3+ months, then independently with physician and senior NP support
- Communicate closely with families, since many patients can't advocate for themselves
- Join twice-weekly multidisciplinary rounds and support nursing staff across the whole unit
- Take phone-only call as part of the rotation (no in-person call)
- Document consistently using the practice's charting approach
- Travel between Denver-metro sites as needed (compensated)
Qualifications
- Colorado NP or PA license, active or obtained by start date
- FNP, AGACNP, AGNP, AGPCNP, ANP, or PA-C
- New graduates welcome; acute, critical care, or hospital RN experience a plus
- Coachable and open to learning this practice's approach, regardless of prior experience
- Willing to complete a 3-month supervised rounding period; a 2–3 year commitment is preferred
- Comfortable serving a highly diverse patient population, including patients from correctional facilities, with respect and without judgment
- DEA not required for new grads; experienced NPs must hold an active DEA
Schedule & Compensation
- $120,000–$130,000 salary, with raises often reviewed at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and annually
- 3-day workweek | Three 12-hour shifts per week | One weekend per month | Phone-only call
- Flexible scheduling around family needs where possible
- Patient load ramps gradually toward ~24/day
- Health and dental insurance | Malpractice
- 15 PTO days in year one, and sick days don't come out of PTO
- One week of paid CME a year (airfare, program cost, and meal per diem covered)
- Licensing, CPR, and ACLS costs covered
