Fremont School District 79 is seeking a full-time Licensed Plumber.
REPORTS TO: Director of Building, Grounds, and Safety
WORK SCHEDULE: 12 months, 8 hours per day
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid State of Illinois Journeyman or Master Plumber License.
- Minimum of 2 years of plumbing experience, preferably in commercial or institutional settings.
- Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Non-Transient Non-Community Public Water System Operator is preferred
- Specific skill-based competencies in operating equipment and tools used in plumbing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to plan layouts.
- Ability to adhere to safety practices, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups and team members.
- Possess excellent organizational and computer skills, including Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
The Plumber provides plumbing services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading plumbing systems, waste water systems and hydraulic systems and equipment; ensuring compliance with accessibility, health and safety codes; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnoses problems and failures in plumbing systems to identify repair and replacement needs.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems and fixtures, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, boilers, and drinking fountains.
- Performs preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on plumbing systems and components.
- Fabricates equipment parts to meet specialty needs or replace unavailable parts.
- Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for repairs.
- Maintains accurate records, including work orders, repair status, and activity logs.
- Communicates effectively; understands and executes complex verbal and written instructions.
- Works with a wide diversity of individuals and functions effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Coordinates with other trades and supervisors to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
- Identifies and implements water-saving initiatives.
- Ensures all well water testing is done annually.
- Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Ensures all work complies with the R.O.E., HLS, IDPH, U.P.C., City, County, State, and District policies and regulations.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate concerns.
- Serves as part of the snow removal team to ensure a safe and efficient clearing of premises.
- Attends meetings, workshops, and training as required to maintain current job skills.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings, Grounds, and Safety.
Physical Demands:
Requires significant physical activity, including:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Some climbing, balancing, and work performed from ladders or at elevated heights.
- Significant fine finger dexterity.
- Job duties typically require 45% walking, 45% standing, and 10% sitting.
- Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.
- Exposure to a range of temperature variations.
- Potential exposure to risk of injury or illness, mitigated by safety protocols.
- $31.53/hour-$39.41/hour, commensurate with experience
- 260 Day Work Year
