Head of Platform Security

I'm working with a financial services organisation in the heart of New York City that's looking to appoint a Head of Platform Security.

My client operates a highly sophisticated, large-scale Linux environment and is looking for someone to lead its platform security engineering function, working closely with some of the organisation's most senior Linux and infrastructure engineers. You'll play a key role in influencing security architecture, tackling complex Linux security challenges and shaping the future of its platform security capabilities.

Although this is a leadership position requiring proven management experience, it's still a deeply technical, hands-on role. You'll need to be comfortable working closely with engineers, getting into the detail of Linux security, challenging technical decisions and solving complex security problems.

Required Experience:

• Deep Linux expertise, including operating system internals, kernel security, SELinux, hardening and isolation.
• Experience securing large, complex Linux environments, ideally within highly technical, engineering-led organisations.
• Proven people management experience, alongside the ability to provide strong technical leadership and develop high-performing engineers.
• Strong software engineering and automation capabilities, with the ability to influence technical design and architecture.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering groups, influence stakeholders and articulate complex technical decisions.
• Someone comfortable operating in an environment where the engineering bar is exceptionally high.

Financial services experience isn't essential. What is essential is that you can demonstrate genuine technical depth in Linux security, proven engineering management experience and the ability to operate effectively across a highly sophisticated engineering organisation.
