Sr. to Staff Full Stack Software Engineer - Fintech Startup

You would be working in the company's office in New York (5 days/week). The company has great work-life balance (40 hours/week).

The company's product involves SaaS, fintech, general ledger, and asset management.

The company has 25 employees and 7 engineers.

In this position you would be leading the design and development of full-stack enterprise applications using Python, React, and Type Script for a cutting-edge financial technology platform. You would be architecting and building scalable backend services and APIs, optimize PostgreSQL databases, and developing intuitive, polished user interfaces and data visualizations. You would be collaborating closely with the CTO and engineering team to rapidly prototype new features, improve application performance, and ensure security, reliability, and scalability.

The company will pay up to $250k in salary plus equity which could be valuable.

Job Responsibilities:

- Using Python and React. Depending on your preference could be anywhere from 70% backend to 70% front end.

- Reporting to the CTO and leading the development of core applications.

- Collaborating withh the team to develop groundbreaking technology and address customers' financial challenges.

- Design and implement robust, end-to-end production-level software to make complex data accessible through enterprise-class applications.

- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to refine technical requirements and rapidly develop prototypes to assess feasibility.

- Architecting and implement backend services and APIs to support front-end applications.

- Optimizing database performance, ensuring data integrity, and managing relational database schemas.

- Ensuring application security and data privacy by implementing best practices and adhering to regulatory requirements.

- Participating in sprint planning and retrospectives to continuously improve team processes.

Qualifications:

- At least 5 years (preferably more) of experience designing and implementing full-stack web applications using Python, React, and Type Script.

- Ability to thrive in small team environments and excel in rapid prototyping.

- Proficiency in API integration and front-end data visualization.

- Extensive experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.

- Solid understanding of AWS infrastructure, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Cloud Formation.

- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control using Git.

- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Nice to have:

- Experience working in financial systems and accounting.

- Strong front-end skills with a keen product and design sense, ensuring detailed UI/UX polish.
