AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Onsite 4 days/week, Bellevue, WA
We are partnered with a well-funded, seed-stage startup building a next-gen analytics platform with AI built into the architecture from day one, not added onto a legacy product. The goal is to give users real AI help across the whole analytics workflow, from preparing and understanding data to analysis, visualization, and sharing. The team is small, high-caliber, and low-ego, backed by top-tier VCs, and works hard without a burnout culture.
About the role
This is the company’s first full-time security hire, owning security across both detection and remediation. You will build the scanning and detection tooling, find the issues, and personally drive getting them fixed rather than handing them off. On a team this small, security is collaborative, not a gatekeeping function, and everyone builds.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain threat detection and scanning infrastructure, mixing homegrown and third-party tools
- Own remediation of security issues end to end, rallying the team and treating it as top priority
- Build reusable secure components and practices that let a fast-moving team keep shipping safely
- Secure a customer-facing product across the full application stack
- Help define the company’s long-term security function
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years focused on security detection and remediation, ideally on product teams
- Strong enough software engineering skills to work directly in a Type Script/Node/React/Postgres codebase
- Experience securing customer-facing products
- Ability to build security tooling yourself rather than relying entirely on vendors
- Hands-on use of AI coding tools and agents as part of your daily workflow
- Solid system design judgment and comfort with ambiguity in a small startup
