Collector – Self Pay Accounts
219 Health Network (also Powers Health) is looking for a Patient Financial Services Self‑Pay Collector to manage and resolve all discharged self‑pay accounts, driving cash flow and minimizing bad debt.
Responsibilities- Resolve all discharged self‑pay account receivables.
- Maximize hospital cash flow and minimize bad debt expenses.
- Contact patients to resolve balances.
- Offer payment plans and other options such as Help Loan Program and Helping Hand.
- Add insurance information and set up for billing.
- Verify patient eligibility for Medicaid.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Call center and telephone work experience.
- Cash collections experience.
- Experience in a hospital or medical business office preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance benefits, coordination of benefits, and Indiana Medicaid programs preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, public, co‑workers, and professional offices.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish desired.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Proficiency with a 10‑key calculator and ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Accurate typing skills of 35 wpm.
- High‑level problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and multi‑task while working in a collaborative, team environment with a positive attitude.
- Detail oriented.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
