Environmental Service Assistant II (Evenings) – 219 Health Network (Munster, IN)

Under the direction of the Environmental Services Director, the environmental services assistant services the facility to assist in providing a clean, attractive, safe environment for patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Responsibilities- Perform all basic cleaning necessary to keep assigned areas in accordance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation Standards, including sweeping, mopping, stripping, scrubbing, refinishing, vacuuming, and spot‑cleaning floors.
- Clean and polish surfaces, both vertical and horizontal.
- Collect and transport medical waste or clean/dirty linen.
- Clean windows, change window treatments and cubicle curtains, wash walls.
- Maintain all environmental services equipment, which includes floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms during hospital stay and after patient discharge.
- Assist in the control of pests, such as rodents and insects, by reporting to the maintenance department.
- Restock all sanitation products in assigned areas.
- Move furniture or heavy objects to provide a pathway for cleaning purposes.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- No experience required; able to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
