As a Records Clerk supporting the Correctional Work Center, you safeguard the accuracy, confidentiality, and lawful release of critical offender documentation for Rutherford County. This role exists to keep records audit-ready, ensure rights are protected, and keep agencies aligned.
Your day begins onsite in Murfreesboro with a quick scan of overnight Detention updates and priority requests. You move between the lobby information window and secure work areas, balancing walk-in questions, phone/radio traffic, and time-sensitive documentation. Midday often includes coordinating with courts, probation, and outside agencies on record releases, background checks, and status confirmations-keeping Government partners in sync. In quieter blocks, you reconcile files, prepare monthly packets, and verify that what's in the system matches source documents.
The day ends with organized queues, clean audit trails, and confidence that Rutherford County records are complete and properly controlled.
Key responsibilities include processing and filing intake/release/transfer paperwork; entering inmate data and judgment information; calculating sentence credits/time served; coordinating warrants and notifications with courts and law enforcement; responding to authorized records requests; maintaining retention/destruction compliance; and producing required administrative reports.
Preferred qualifications/skills:- Records management in an administrative environment with high confidentiality
- Strong data-entry accuracy and document control across paper/electronic files
- Working knowledge of retention rules and controlled information release
- Ability to communicate clearly with courts, law enforcement, and the public
