Job Summary

The Associate Director of Athletic Communications/Creative Services/Graphic Design assists the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Communication in handling all forms of athletic communications for the athletic department. Primary focus: to direct all creative efforts—videography, graphic design, photography, and social media—in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director for Communications and Associate AD for Marketing and other areas to further the reach and current brand awareness of MTSU Athletics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee graphic design, videography, photography, and social media efforts across all athletic programs.
  • Create and produce visuals for social media, digital and print marketing, email campaigns, and large‑scale facility designs.
  • Coach and assist sports information assistants in graphic design, social media, and statistical record keeping.
  • Coordinate with the Blue Raider Athletic Association, marketing staff, and ticketing staff to deliver visual elements, videography, photography, and social media direction.
  • Monitor, edit, and contribute to the athletic department website; schedule videographers, photographers, and media personnel for game coverage.
  • Supervise photography coverage, scheduling, studio shoots, and data storage, and manage photography equipment worth $100,000+.
  • Supervise videography coverage, scheduling, quality control of videos and marketing ads, and manage videography equipment.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Athletics and Football social media accounts and develop social media plans for other sports.
  • Analyze social media analytics to inform creative and online strategy and stay current with industry trends.
  • Hire, onboard, and oversee interns, graduate assistants, and student assistants; manage the INFLCR contract for student‑athlete NAMING, IMAGE, and Likeness content.
  • Coordinate media pass distribution, production of game programs, schedule cards, and posters; produce news releases and award nominations.
  • Emcee press conferences and manage press/media credentials for all sports.
  • Assist coaches in promoting programs within NCAA guidelines; represent the university at NCAA and conference meetings and community events.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA rules and maintain a culture of compliance for athletes, coaches, and supporters.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Public Relations, Athletic Administration, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience in sports information or sports reporting, including media guide layout, poster production, and schedule cards.
  • One (1) year of media relations experience with graphic design, social media, writing/editing skills, and development of graphics for social media platforms.
  • Desirable:
    Three (3) years of NCAA Division I experience in an athletic communications or media relations office;
    Master’s degree preferred.
