Job Summary /Basic FunctionThe Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#107180) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026. As a Carnegie R2 (Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity) institution, we seek a scholar with expertise in computational or applied mathematics who will contribute to our vibrant academic community through teaching, research, and membership excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a productive, externally funded research program.
- Engage undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration for undergraduate and graduate programs.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Actuarial Science, and an M.S. in Mathematics. The department also participates in several interdisciplinary degree programs, including the Ph.D. in Computational and Data Science. Required EducationA terminal degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, or closely related field is required by the appointment date.
