Overview

Join the Department of Art and Design as a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty member in graphic design at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The appointed rank will be assistant or associate professor with a start date of August 1, 2026. The position is part of a NASAD‑accredited program committed to innovation, collaboration, and student success.

• Teach a broad range of courses across the graphic design curriculum—including introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program growth, and high school outreach and recruitment efforts.
• Advise, mentor, and support students, including participation in active student groups and extracurricular programming.
• Engage in grant writing, committee service, and computer lab oversight, integrating technology and industry trends.

• A terminal degree, such as an MFA, MDes, or a closely related field, is required by the appointment date.
• Demonstrated mastery of graphic design principles, typography, and visual communication.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard tools, including Macintosh hardware and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Fluency in current UI/UX design trends and theories, and a strong design portfolio.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching, student engagement, and service.

• At least two (2) years of full‑time teaching experience in graphic design beyond a graduate assistantship.
• At least five (5) years of professional industry experience.
