The Department of Social Work at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position (#168090) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date is August 1, 2026.

Job Summary / Basic FunctionThe successful candidate will be highly engaged in research and community service, pursue interdisciplinary collaboration with potential for external funding and contracts, and maintain a collaborative, engaged, student‑centered approach. The department expects a collaborative, engaged, student‑centered approach to performance and responsibilities.
Required Education- A terminal degree (PhD, DSW, or equivalent) in social work and a Master of Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited program (required by appointment date).
- An equivalent of two (2) years of post‑masters social work practice paid or volunteer experience (must be identified in CV). Experience may include practice with athletes, sport social work settings, or with individuals, families, groups, or communities.
- Licensed or license‑eligible at the Master of Social Work level (required by appointment date).
- Practice and research experience in sport social work.
- Certifications or certificates in sports social work.
- Demonstrated evidence or strong potential for securing external funding for research or community engagement.
- One (1) year of experience teaching in a higher‑education setting.
