Onsite Schedule Your ContributionAs a HSE Supervisor reporting to the Murfreesboro Plant Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the Health and Safety efforts, as well as the Environmental Management System of the plant/location. The position ensures a safe work environment for all employees while maintaining compliance with all International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines, and safety‑related legal requirements.
This role is responsible to:
- Supervising a team of Health, Safety, and Environmental Representatives.
- Ensuring health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs comply with company, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), federal, state, and local regulations.
- Managing environmental programs. Maintaining a log of chemicals used at facility and corresponding safety data sheets (SDS).
- Leading and coordinating environmental systems activities to meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guideline.
- Responding to and facilitating investigations for HSE incidents and near misses, assisting with identification of root causes, and driving implementation of corrective actions.
- Managing position specific safety and health training programs to educate employees in work‑site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
- Reviewing new machinery, equipment, and plant layout changes to ensure a proactive safety approach.
- Monitoring occupational health and industrial hygiene activities including air sampling, noise measurements, etc.
- Inspecting facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determining corrective or preventative measures where needed and following up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Organizing ergonomic assessments and job hazard analysis for all areas.
- Ensuring appropriate personal protective equipment is available for employees.
- Facilitating visitor/contractor expectations pertaining to plant safety.
- Managing internal audits and annual certification programs.
- Maintaining HSE files and records; compiling and submitting accident and other reports as required by regulatory agencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Environmental Health/Science.
- Chemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- 7+ years previous or related experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and decision‑making skills required, ability to make difficult decisions and set the example for employees.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery.
- Ability to manage short and/or long‑term projects to successful completion.
- Must have broad, basic understanding of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Certified safety professional (CSP) and/or certified industrial hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred.
