Controls Engineer

**** This position will work onsite from the Murfreesboro, TN location.
** The Controls Engineer works within engineering groups to support the implementation of the control strategy for advanced vehicle control systems. Controls work encompasses advanced control strategy development and verification for engine, hybrid, and electric vehicles, for components (electronic control modules, motors, drives, engines, generators, energy storage cells, sensors, etc.), and for autonomous vehicle systems, advanced suspensions systems, material handling systems, and other auxiliary systems for on-road and off-road applications.
** YOUR IMPACT:
*** Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks.
* Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
* Support Senior Engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
* Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
* Work in collaboration with software engineering, and other internal engineering groups or business support disciplines as well as external component suppliers.
* Support advanced vehicle system controls research, development, verification and validation, testing and production implementation.
* Support developing control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools (such as ADAMS, Matlab/Simulink/State flow, AMEsim, etc.) or hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
* Support internal project teams on advanced control development efforts and on component development efforts.
* Other duties as assigned.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Accredited Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical Engineering or related field with Internship or Co-op experience with either controls or software development focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical Engineering required, a major in control focus is a plus.
* Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
* Course project knowledge of control systems, sensors and actuators.
* Automotive or heavy duty on or off-road vehicle, digital data bus, including Ethernet or Controller Area Network (CAN) experiences a plus.
* Embedded software/C or C#/Python programming experience a plus.
* Proficient troubleshooting on Wabco, John Deere, and Allison.
