This position will work onsite from the Murfreesboro, TN location.
Responsibilities- Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks.
- Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
- Support Senior Engineers in preparing basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
- Work in collaboration with software engineering and other internal engineering groups or business support disciplines as well as external component suppliers.
- Support advanced vehicle system controls research, development, verification, and validation; testing and production implementation.
- Support development of control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools (such as ADAMS, Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, AMEsim, etc.) or hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulators.
- Support internal project teams on advanced control development efforts and on component development efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field with internship or co‑op experience focusing on controls or software development.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; a major in control focus is a plus.
- Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
- Course project knowledge of control systems, sensors, and actuators.
- Experience with automotive or heavy‑duty on or off‑road vehicles, digital data bus, including Ethernet or Controller Area Network (CAN).
- Embedded software/C, C#, or Python programming experience.
- Proficient troubleshooting of Wabco, John Deere, and Allison systems.
- Internal contacts: effective communication with peers and others, gathering factual information, and handling sensitive or confidential data.
- External contacts: limited external communication to gather information or provide assistance.
- Communication skills: reads, writes, and comprehends instructions, correspondences, memos, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Decision‑making: makes responsible decisions based on evaluated information.
- Problem solving: handles structured work with decision choices within standard policy and procedures.
- Supervisory/managerial: instructs, schedules, and reviews work of others performing similar tasks; acts as a lead worker.
- Physical demands: frequent standing, walking/running, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, vision, typing; occasional driving, fine dexterity, manual dexterity; upper‑extremity repetitive motion; seldom lifting/carrying 25 lbs, pushing/pulling 25 lbs.
- Non‑physical demands: frequent analysis, reasoning, communication, math, reading, sustained mental activity, writing.
- Environmental demands: frequent work alone, frequent task changes, tedious/exacting work; occasional high‑volume public contact.
- Work schedule:
routine shift hours; infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation. - Demands/deadlines: occasional stress from deadlines or workload due to intermittent or cyclical work pressures; occasional exposure to distressed individuals.
$68,600.00 – $ (U.S. locations). Individual pay is determined by factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and equity among team members.
